When attempting to add a scale out file server resource in VMM 2012 R2 I get the following error:
Registration of the storage subsystem foc-01.contoso.com for user contoso.com\vmmservice failed from vmm-01.contoso.com with error code StorageSubsystemNotFound. Specify a valid subsystem name, and user credentials for registering the subsystem.
ID: 26311
One thing odd about the error is that 'hypv-sofs' is the name of the SOFS resource entered to search for but it mentions 'foc-01' which is the failover cluster name i.e. not the scale out file server resource name.
I have read the note about this error on this page and made some adjustments but the advice is vague (and my VMM server is not HA, I only have one). What I ended doing is:
1) On VMM-01 computer account (in AD users & computers) adding CIFS Delegation for HYPV-SOFS (SOFS resource), FOC-01 (FC resource) and even the individual nodes (only 2) that make up the SOFS/FC.
2) Adding the VMM service account to the local administrator group on both file servers that make up the SOFS/FC. This advice mentioned
here.
And still nothing, same error.
What does work: The SOFS. I can create shares and run VMs from it using my two Hyper-V nodes. I can even add the Hyper-V nodes as resources to VMM. Just can't add the shared storage.
Anyone have any ideas?
