Virtual Machine Servicing Tool 2012 - Could not connect to VMM 2012

Hello,

I have a problem concerning the Virtual Machine Serviing Tool 2012: when I try to configure the tool I am asked for the VMM 2012 server and the SCCM 2012 server. But my SCVMM server is not accepted ("Could not connect to System Center 2012 Virtual Machine Manager server"). The account that I use has administrative rights on the SCVMM (Domain Admin). It is also not firewall related (does also not work when the firewall is turned off). The Servicing Tool is installed on the SCVMM server. My SCVMM is SCVMM 2012 SP1.

Any idea?

Thanks,

Bernd

New SCVMM Server is not recognizing the Hyper-V Hosts

Hello Everyone,

I setup a new SCVMM Server in our domain and this setup is not recognizing the Hyper-V Hosts within our Domain and instead its picking up few VM's (not complete list). One time it recognizes a set of servers and another time it will pick up a different set. I am pretty sure I missed something here. Can anyone help me out on this issue! Or any inputs here for how to set up brand new SCVMM Server setup also should work for me :-)

Specs:

SCVMM Server Version: 2012 SP1

Hyper-V Hosts Version: 2008 R2

Thanks

Vikram

Adding WSUS Fails - 407 Proxy Authentication Required

Hi

I've got VMM 2012 SP1 installed on Server 2012.

I'd like to add a WSUS server to this so I can manage patching of my hosts.

I've setup a VM running Server 2012 and WSUS 4.0 (installed as a role), but each time I try and add this to VMM it fails with the following error

Error (24000)
Error connecting to the WSUS server: WSUS-SERVER, Port: 8530. Detailed error: The request failed with HTTP status 407: Proxy Authentication Required.

Recommended Action
Ensure that the server connection information is valid. Then try the operation again.

I've followed the guide to a T and still no joy.

There are no proxies between VMM and WSUS.

I've installed the WSUS management console on the VMM server and can connection to the WSUS server via this console without issue....

VMM and WSUS both use proxies to get out to the internet using IWA. I've tried disabling this.. still no joy.

I binged about a bit and cannot find anything relating to WSUS, VMM and 407 erros

Can the WSUS server exist as a VM on a cluster being managed by VMM, and be added as an update server to said VMM?

Virtual Machine Manager 2012 "Host Not Responding" Error: 12704

Hi, so I recently upgraded from 2008 to 2012 in hope of fixing the Host Not Responding errors because I've just upgraded the server to 2012 and the VMM was only 2008. So I refreshed it in hop it would be fixed however, it wouldn't even refresh. The error code I've received was: 12704. I've Googled it and none of the fixes help me.

Full Error:

Error (12704)
Unable to connect to the Hyper-V service on the server xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

Recommended Action
Ensure that the Hyper-V services (vmms, nvspwmi, or vhdsv) and the Virtual Machine Manager Agent are installed and running on the server xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

So, could some kind person send any kind of fix my way? I'll try anything at the moment!

Thanks

-Adam

SP1 agent install to 2012 Hyper-V server fails

Anyone else having problems installing the agent from SP1 to a 2012 server? It was a 2008 R2 server that was in-place upgraded to 2012. I uninstalled the SCVMM 08R2 agent, but every time I try to install the agent, whether via a push from the new 2012 SCVMM server or manual install on the hyper-v server, it fails.

Done all kinds of troubleshooting with WinRm, WMI, etc. Here's the part of the VMM log file where I believe the failure occurs:

Is it possible to set private vlan mode to community in VMM 2012 SP1?

I have setup private vlan configuration in VMM 2012 SP1 but it Always ends up in isolated mode when I add the VM Network to a virtual machine. Is it possible to change the mode to Community from inside VMM or maybe set it as a default value? I can change the mode with powershell (Set-VMNetworkAdapterVlan) but it would be nice to be able to do it from inside VMM.

move from SCVMM 2008 R2 SP1 to VMM 2012 SP1?

Dears,

i have 3 HA Hyper-v Clusters based on Windows 2008 R2 SP1, and managed by SCVMM 2008 R2 SP1, i decided to upgrade to SCVMM 2012 SP1 , i know is unsupported , but i want to try this scenario

1- remove Hyper-V Clusters from SCVMM 2008 R2 SP1 and uninstall agents on the hosts

2-build clean installation of SCVMM 2012 SP1, and then install the agents on the 3 clusters1

3-move manually all files in the old library server to the new library server

4-unistall VMM 2008 R2 SP1

please correct me if i am wrong, and do you think removing host agents from VMM 2008 R2 sp1 will affect Virtual machines or hosts functionality..

thanks

Configuring Windows Load Balancer in SCVMM 2012 SP1

Greetings,

I'm new in technet foruns, but many many times i've come here to search for answers and many times it was very helpful to me. This time i've searched the entire forum, i've found some threads about this, but i can't figure it out how to do this.

I've created an Cloud in SCVMM and i have my VMs in there. I've created the logical network of course with my IP Pool and my VIP IP range. I also created the load balancer (Microsoft > Network Load Balancer) and the VIP Templates.

What i can't understand is where in the SCVMM i do the configuration: "This VIP address or this VIP range goes to that server farm??"

Please could someone help me on this one? I know it sounds silly question, but it must be something that is missing in the configuration, but i just can't figure it out what is it!

Big thanks in advance guys!

Wait to hear from you soon.

SCVMM 2012 SP1 HA Guest Cluster Setup

Hi,

I want to setup the SCVMM server as high available.  I create 2 VMs. I will create a guest-cluster.

Storage: What are my options here?  Should I use a fileshare as witnessdisk or should I use vHBA?  The SCVMM db is located on a dedicated SQL cluster. So the shared storage is only used for Quorum.

Network: I will add a second NIC to each VM for heartbeat. Can I use the same subnet/VLAN for the Heatbeat traffic that I'm already using for the Hyper-V hosts? I'm using a converged switch with vNICs.

Thanks,

VMM Instance Cluster and PXE Server query

I've a VMM instance which is clustered.  I know that WDS is not cluster aware.  However is it possible to install WDS (aka PE Services) onto one of the VMM cluster nodes but still add it as the PXE Server within the VMM clustered instance?  Getting errors and expect that this is not possible but just curious if others have found away of achieving this?

Thanks

Greetings,

When i integrate VMM Integration Pack 2012 into my Orchestrator 2012 it brings me activites, but not all of them.

The activities i really need like "Get Service", "Get Tier", "Scale Out" and "Scale In" doesn't appear. Am i doing something wrong?

The version of the VMM IP is 7.0.1298.0. Orchestrator is 2012 SP1.

I really need these activities to automate scale out and in. Does anyone have any idea what is happening?

Thanks in advance!

VMM 2012 SP1: cannot add 3PAR 7400 storage

$

Hello,

I have VMM 2012 SP1 installed (actually I even tried to upgrade them to UR3) on Windows 2012 host, and HP 3PAR 7400 (OS version is 3.1.2, SMI-S version is 1.4)

CIM is started on 3Par with the startcim command (I used the following manual: http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetDocument.aspx?docname=4AA4-2876ENW)

But when I try to add 3Par as SMI-S storage I've got an error:

Error (26263)
Registration of storage provider https://192.168.220.8:5989 for user 3paradm failed from bgf-vmm01.domain.CORP with error code HostAgentFail.

Recommended Action
Specify valid provider, port and user credentials for storage discovery.

Error (26212)
VMM could not determine the availability of File Services on the specified provider.

Recommended Action
Fix the issue, and then try the operation again.

Of course credentials are OK and IP address too. I try to use WBEMServices Java util and it connects successfully so I guess that my problem is VMM-related.

I tried both SSL and non-SSL connections with the same result.

I try to enable CIM log, here is it:

Painful? Trying to get VMM and MS Virtualization running.

Have spent 24 hours on simply trying to get the VMM running, so I can actually add a Host machine to build some VM's.

I could have had at least 10 machines built and configured with ESX in this same time. My hope was to use MS Virtualization to see if performance was any better. But I have to be able to get 1 host machine working first, and it has been more painful than I could have imagined.

I am likely going to abandoned the MS Virtualization, and move it to ESX. It simply works...faster, better, less hassle, no WinRM issues (that are not really issues)....etc...

Setup cannot connect to the specified SQL Server instance

On a clean install domain member (Windows 2012), I am trying to setup System center 2012 VMM:

1. I installed the prerequisites as instructed during the pre-setup phase of the installation then rebooted the server (SQL Server 2012 was installed and services seem to be all started properly and SQL Configuration Manager starts as well).

2. After reboot, logged again with domain admin account and Windows update installed right away SP1 for SQL server 2012. Then I rebooted again.

3. Restarted the installation process and left default values. At the "Database configuration" step, I am leaving everything by default as well and I am getting error: "Setup cannot connect to the specified SQL Server instance. Ensure that the server name..."

4. Tried different credentials, tried using port 1433 with no effect.

Am I missing something????

Thanks.

SCVMM 2008 R2 - Console connection to Perimeter Network not working due to certificate issue

$
0
0

When I install agent in Hyper-V host, the hostname is automatically taken as netbios name (in the security file).

When I add host in SCVMM console, I had to provide Netbios name (Doesn't accept FQDN as the host name in security file is Netbios name).

All done, I've added the Hyper-V host to SCVMM console with Netbios name.

The problem starts when I try to "connect to Virtual machine", certificate mismatch, the hostname as per SCVMM is Netbios name and the hostname in Remote Desktop connection certificate is FQDN.

I tried to install the certificate as per http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-us/virtualmachinemanager/thread/C2983177-E5B8-4D73-974A-7E85A8A6AD7F in

Local computer Personal, Trusted Root Certification Authorities, Remote Desktop,

Current user->Personal, Trusted Root Certification Authorities.

Still I cannot connect to virtual machine from SCVMM console.

I feel I can fix the issue if I can add Hyper-V host by FQDN or Remote desktop certificate by Netbios.

Valued experts, please help me to fix this problem. Thanks.
